Partnership Programme in Science
After running successfully for 20 years in the Netherlands and 3 years in Belgium, the Partnership Programme in Science has now drawn to a close. The British Council would like to acknowledge the generosity and expertise of our partners in the Netherlands, NWO and Platform Beta Techniek, and those in Belgium, Wallonie Bruxelles International (WBI) and the Fonds de la Recherche Scientifique (FNRS). For information on other sources of funding for international exchanges please visit the links provided in the left hand column.

Building a Successful International Research Career Training Workshop
The International Career Training Workshop assists early career researchers with their career planning. The aim of this 3-day workshop was to bring together a small interdisciplinary group of early stage researchers, drawn from across Europe, interested in developing their enterprise in building an international research career, and to explore and identify ways to support career progression in an international setting through skills development in networking, securing funding and self-promotion. The interactive programme included some formal input, but mainly consisted of problem-solving activities, cooperative working, informal discussion and opportunities to share experiences. Three training workshops have already successfully taken place; one in Paris in February 2008, in Lisbon in December 2008 and in Bonn in December 2009. The last one took place in Amsterdam from 19 to 21 January 2011. This training workshop in the Netherlands has been organised in cooperation with The Netherlands Royal Academy for Arts and Sciences (KNAW) and took place at the Trippenhuis, the head office of KNAW, located in the city centre of Amsterdam.

Our colleague from British Council Lisbon, Fátima Dias, has written an article about the event, available for download.
