British Council Netherlands
For more information on our work in the Benelux and on partnership opportunities, please contact our projects team.

The British Council is the UK's international cultural relations body, and has been promoting the exchange of knowledge and ideas between the Netherlands and the UK since 1948. The Benelux team works primarily on multilateral projects across Western Europe and North America, under strategic themes described as Intercultural Dialogue and Creative and Knowledge Economy.

In partnership with a diverse range of organisations and individuals in our ever-expanding network, we build understanding between cultures and promote positive social change. We develop the skills and creativity people need to prosper in the creative industries and knowledge economy. We promote collaboration in science, technology and all academic fields between institutions in the UK and the Benelux. We also contribute actively to meeting the challenges our societies face, focusing in the Benelux on the relevant fields such as arts, business, science, education, technology, media, and society.

We are a truly worldwide organisation, operating in over 100 countries in all corners of the globe. We can provide access to global networks across all sectors of our work, and the opportunity to benefit from new professional partnerships, sharing international perspectives, and expanding audiences.

The success of our programmes will only happen when we work together with our partners and audiences. This is why it is crucial that we partner with a broad spectrum of first-rate organisations who share our passion and commitment to promoting cultural relations.  We collaborate closely with our partners to identify and design specific activities in  Benelux where the UK can add significant value. We are always open to discussing new ideas with those from all sectors of public and professional society, and to explore plans under the British Council’s strategic themes.

Those seeking to work with the British Council are advised to contact us in the earliest stages of their work planning - preferably about 12 months before planned starting date.
