Using over 200 policy indicators it creates a rich, multi-dimensional picture of migrants’ opportunities to participate in society. On 28 February 2011 the results of the third edition of the MIPEX will be officially launched in Brussels.

In partnership with FORUM, the British Council Netherlands has hosted a ‘panel discussion’ on the third edition of the MIPEX in the Netherlands on 2 March 2011, at Nieuwspoort in the Hague.
This meeting aimed to promote the debate on the findings of the MIPEXIII project, and wider issues surrounding migrant integration policy. It is part of a series of presentations, publication launches and open discussions throughout the European Union that are held in order to promote Migrant Integration Policy Index.
Respected authorities in the field attended the panel debate in The Hague where we discussed the findings for the Netherlands in the different policy areas of the MIPEX: Education, Labour Market Mobility, Family Reunion, Long-term Residence, Political Participation, Access to Nationality and Anti-discrimination.
In this event, additional focus was on Dutch policies concerning dual nationality. There has been a lot of discussion on whether or not to allow the possession of dual nationality, especially over the possession of dual nationality among politicians in the Netherlands. The issues discussed in this panel debate included how we should interpret this particular attitude of the Netherlands in comparison to neighboring countries like Belgium or Germany? What are the pros and cons of allowing dual or multiple nationalities? Possible answers to these questions have been discussed by a panel of experts and stakeholders together with the audience present.
A report will be posted.
