ABOUT EUNIC

EUNIC (the European Union National Institutes for Culture)
is the association of European national cultural institutes working in co-operation in the development of uniquely multilateral projects and initiatives based on common European issues. This unique partnership means that we can share expertise and views from a number of different European countries, and can also pool our unique networks of people across Europe to create new partnerships. Our projects, which aim to deepen understanding and respect between people, relate in particular to social and political issues, the arts, education and language. www.eunic-europe.eu

NEWS & EVENTS

EMAJ 2009
EUNIC Netherlands supports the Euro-Mediterranean Academy for Young Journalists (EMAJ) 2009 that will take place in Amsterdam from 5 to 16 October 2009.

EMAJ 2009

The Euro-Mediterranean Academy for Young Journalists 2009 is a 10-day, high-quality training course on Journalism and Intercultural Dialogue in which active discussions on current issues, lectures from experts on relevant subjects and practical assignments are tools in challenging mutual misperceptions in the region.
This year’s iteration of the EMAJ focuses on the challenges posed by global migration - a topic that participants from both regions can relate to. The multicultural city of Amsterdam provides the perfect setting to explore the topic from many angles.

Participants
In total were received 310 applications from 45 different countries applying for 18 available places. All applications were carefully read and evaluated by an international commission consisting of journalists and media experts. The members of the EMAJ 2009 selection committee represented both the European and the Mediterranean countries. They made sure that all applications were evaluated in the same objective way. The selection committee has now completed its evaluation of all applications. Check the EMAJ website for a complete list of participants.

If you need more information or want to get involved as a partner, please contact Krystian Lada, EMAJ 2009 Project Manager
