ON TOP OF THE TOWN
The Connecting Futures Theatre Project

In a world made smaller by new media and online communications, 16 young people from two very different European cities make a theatre performance together.

Like exploring a foreign city, the process of making this piece of theatre has been full of times of feeling surprised and amazed, getting lost, getting found again, and managing to make sense of what seems like chaos. And it feels that only through the experiences we have had of being in new places, meeting new people, and sharing moments of familiarity as well as misunderstanding, have we been able to think about who we are ourselves.

On Top of the Town explores the process of how complicated it is to show others our cities and through this to reveal our individual identities. We are completely normal, we think, until we are taken out of context. When we have to explain ourselves, we do so in a way which never seems to quite tell the whole story. Sometimes it tells a new story entirely.

In On Top of the Town 16 young people look at each other, our cities and our dreams about our ideal cities. We hope you enjoy the journey.
