Priya Basil was born in London, raised in Kenya, studied in Bristol and now resides in Berlin. Her debut novel Ishq and Musq (Love and Odour), a story about an Indian family set in the second half of the twentieth century, shifts between India, Africa and Great Britain. English broadsheet The Guardian chose Ishq and Musq as amongst this year’s most promising writing debuts.
