In October 2006, Krijn Peter Hesselink (1976) won the Dutch slam poetry championships. He published poems in literary magazines like Hollands Maandblad, Krakatau and Lava, and in the Dutch newspaper Nrc.next. He makes his living as a translator. Currently he is working on Breyten Breytenbach's latest novel, A Veil of Footsteps. Before, he translated poetry and essays by Breyten Breytenbach (Intimate Stranger and The Wind Catcher) and Jed Mercurio's novel Ascent, to name but a few. For the literary magazine Armada, he translated poetry by William Carlos Williams and Badr Shakir al-Sayyab. He is also active in civil society. In 2005, he helped establish Wonder, a group of people making fun with society. Thus, he launched a foster parents plan for politicians and civil servants (www.burgerbuddy.nl).
