You can download IELTS result from here. Please note that you have to enter your passport number, candidate number and date of birth to see your result. The result of 03 May will be only on 19 May due to unavoidable circumstance.

Teaching Centre Courses
Our next classes will begin on 21 May. Placement testing and registration will be from 1300 to 1600 hours on 16 May and 0700 to 1600 hours from 17 to 19 May. Places on all our courses are limited and are allocated on a first come first served basis. Find out more.

Library and Information Services
Work on refurbishing our library space to create a new Learning Centre is on target. Refurbishment is also under way at the Kathmandu Valley Public Library (KVPB), our partner organisation. We have just funded the purchase of 1815 new books for the KVPB to help their preparations.

What's New?
Winners of Writing Competitions

In April 2008, our Creative Writing  students looked at writing short stories. The quality of work was very high and the class voted for Criminal? by Bartika Rai as the best, with Little Ghost by Dikshya Devkota runner up. Keep an eye out for more short stories written by Creative Writing students in future – who knows, these young writers could become famous some day!

ETTE English Teaching: Teaching Through English

From 6 May we started a big new project,  English For Teaching: Teaching Through English. This project will upgrade the language level of primary school teachers in rural areas of Nepal. In May/June, 30 English teachers will be trained in modern communicative teaching methods by experienced teacher trainers from the British Council and Global Action Nepal.

In June/July, the successful trainees will travel to Solu Khumbu, Baglung and Kailali to train 240 primary teachers in local resource centres.

Win books for your child: British Council, UK has some selected books for children between the ages of 4 and 12 to give away to parents of children who are learning English as an additional language. All you have to do is tell  about your favourite children's book written in English before 31st May 2008. Find out more

Global Xchange
The first UK-Nepal exchange finished on 3 March. Young volunteers from Nepal and the UK worked for 3 months in Birmingham and 3 months in Kavre on a range of community projects. Global Exchange is run internationally by the British Council and VSO. The local implementing partner is Aasaman Nepal. Another exchange is due to start in September this year.
