The Open University courses are designed for students studying in their homes or workplaces, in their own time, anywhere in the world. Courses use a range of teaching media – specially produced textbooks, online programmes, audio and videotapes etc.
Undergraduate courses are open to all regardless of educational qualifications. Apart from those studying for degrees, many OU students follow courses related to professional development. These often lead to certificate or diploma qualifications.

The aim of the National University Network for East and South Asian Studies is to promote education, research and personal exchange on and toEast and Southeast Asia in Finnish Universities. The network is coordinated at the University of Turku, Centre for East Asian Studies, CEAS.
