British Council Nepal has signed a contract with Focus One Nepal for the delivery of the Learn English Mobile in Nepal on 22 September 2011. For the initial period, the two parties have partnered to reach to the audience through SMS and Interactive Voice Response (IVR).
Focus One Nepal is known for software development and related services. It has an experience to integrate existing technologies to run functional system to send IVR/SMS based English learning program
English language is seen as language of opportunity in Nepal and its demand is ever growing. Mobile phone offers the most portable and affordable means to learn English. The concept is much more economical and adaptive than formal methods.
Nepal’s mobile market has continued to grow strongly, presently there are around 10 million mobile users and it’s predicted that the mobile penetration by 2015 will be 81% according to Buddecom analyst.
The service is aimed to cater mainly to foreign jobseekers and people engaged in tourism sector.
Through this service we plan to reach more than 3 million people in Nepal by the end of 2013.
