The British Council looks to challenge monolithic or polarising representations of beliefs, world views and perspectives which can inhibit global cultural relations by creating misunderstanding or misrepresentation of different communities, or lead to a lack of trust, both in the UK or globally.

We want to help to build trust, by enabling people from the UK and other countries to understand each other better and work together across communities to address global challenges and issues that arise within increasingly diverse communities.

To do this, we aim to create opportunities worldwide for cross community engagement, widening participation in inter-cultural dialogue, online spaces to communicate together as digital global citizens and enabling greater access to a diverse range global voices and perspectives.
