British Council Morocco
Wonder Villains at Sun Festival Orange lozenge left
29 - 30 June 2012, Marrakech

British Council in partnership with SUN festival organized a concert introducing the acclaimed young British Pop band Wonder Villains for the first time in Morocco.

The talented band of four young teenagers from Derry, Ireland, performed in Marrakech on the night of the 30th June at the French Institute.

The Moroccan public especially young Moroccan musicians and artists had also the chance to meet Eimear, Ryan, Ceilin and Kieran during a round table to discuss the life as a young professional musician in today’s competitive music industry

This event goes along the British Council’s aim to facilitate intercultural dialogue through artistic expression. Art is a powerful vehicle for people to communicate across and between cultures and this was an opportunity for young Moroccans to exchange experiences with their British counterparts as well as each other to gain ideas about how music can facilitate dialogue and a greater social inclusion.

Wonder Villains

“Wonder Villains, the definitive makers of new Northern Ireland pop and more than up for it “are refreshingly, utterly without pretence or guile as they sing songs about stuff that genuinely excite them, such as Peter Petrelli from Heroes (“Oh Peter”), Gianfranco Zola (“Zola”) and the film Space Jam(er, ‘Space Jam’)” states out AU Magazine.

Whereas the nessymonn website describes them as “The sickenly talented foursome from Derry that have adapted a pop indie sound that is destined to win fans over. Uptempo with a driving synth bass line, their last song FERARI will surely get the crowd going at many festivals this Summer. It’s catchy, quirky electro indie pop, glorious and delightful..” .
