Morocco Winner announced

On thursday 18 March 2010 Famelab final competition took place!

The National Final and Prize ceremony were hosted at the Centre pour la Recherche Scientifique et Technique in Rabat. The event was animated by the Moroccan 4th national channel:Arrabiâ.

The Ceremony was presided over by the Ambassador of the UK in Morocco, Mr Tim Morris and the Secretary General at the Ministry of higher education, Mr Abdelhafid Debbarh and the British Council Director Mr Adam Ladbury and was attended by many other personalities from the fields of Education and Sciences..

Candidates were all well prepared and a lot of progress was made after the two days masterclass. Presentations were very competitive.

The Winner

Adnane Qasbar was the star of the day and fought over the 1st prize. With his remarkable Charisma, and the clarity of his content, Adnane impressed both the audience and the jury with his presentation on gravity:

"Modern physics uses the theory of general relativity by Albert Enstein, "Adnane explained," the sun keeps earth on its orbit. This theory so complicated is clearly explained by the following examples (a car running fast attracts light things like papers, and when we are in a train we are in fact moving as fast as the train this is why when we jump we land exactly on the point we jumped from).  Adnane concluded " we still use Newton law of gravity because it's simple in mathematics demonstration."

Adnane Qasbar will be the Moroccan ambassador in Cheltenham in June 2010. The second and third prizes were won respectively by Hasna El Harhouri and Jamila Mae El Ainanine.

“When i first saw the note at the university informing about the FameLab i liked the idea, I always wanted to be famous and here is a laboratory which makes young people interesting in science become famous. I immediately went on youtube and tape FameLab, so I watched the last year edition and I said, this is exactly what i wonna do and I participated. So great thanks to the British Council for this opportunity, we always see that kind of casting in music, animation, sport ....This is the first time in science, so thanks British council for bringing FameLab to Morocco”. said Adnane.

Adnane Qasbar is 22 years old. He is working on his end studies project with Redal company (Veolia Envirenement Group in Rabat) in order to get his diploma of Specialized Master in Water and Sustainable Development at the faculty of sciences Ain Chock , University Hassan II Casablanca.
