WHY CHOOSE A BRITISH COUNCIL COURSE?

As the UK's international organisation for educational and cultural relations, British Council is able to create unparalleled opportunities in English language learning and cultural exchange.

Our centres in Rabat and Casablanca can offer you and your family a wide range of courses which will help you improve your reading, writing, listening and speaking skills as well as your grammar.

WHAT TEACHING METHODS DO YOU USE?

British Council teachers are trained to follow a communicative approach to language teaching and learning.  This involves pair work, group work and project work, and promotes ‘learning through doing’.

Our teachers use modern methods and textbooks based on interesting topics as well as a range of computer and video based materials.

Could I be reimbursed?

The British Council will give a refund if:

  • We cannot open a class for you.
  • You tell us that you cannot attend a course before it begins.
  • You ask for a refund within two weeks of the course’s start date, and you have not attended any classes.

The British Council will also give a refund on the registration fee if we place you at a level for which there is no class.

The British Council will not give a refund:

  • If you have attended one class.
  • On course books once bought.
  • On the registration fee if we can offer you a class at your level, but the time does not suit you.

If you feel that you should be given a refund in other circumstances (for example, case of serious illness) you can apply for a refund in writing to the Teaching Centre Manager. You should include a letter and documentation to support your claim. The Manager will then decide whether a refund should be granted on a case by case basis.  The manager’s decision is final

There is an administration fee of Dhs 150 for refunds. The British Council reserves the right to enforce this at its discretion.

Do I have to do a placement test?
If you are registering for the first time, or have not studied with us for the last 2 terms, yes.  In order to be confident that you join the correct level and get the best out of the course, you have to do a placement test, which assesses your written and oral abilities.  You will also have to pay a registration fee of 175 dh.
Do I need to buy books?
Each course uses a specially-chosen course book which covers the whole academic year.  Prices for a set of student book and work book: Dh 180 – 350.
How do I know what progress I am making?
Each term you should get Learning Aims to help you see and record what you are studying.  In addition, each term you will receive counselling from your teacher, when they give you feedback on your progress.
What do I get at the end of the course?
Every student receives a certificate or letter to show their attendance and achievement during the term.
Can I get a discount?

There are 3 types of discount available:

Bring a friend discount: if you are already a student at the British Council you receive a discount of 150dh if you introduce a friend who registers and pays the full fee for a course. Your friend gets a discount of 100dh.
Family discount: if you register an adult or child at full regular fee. Then each subsequent child in the (direct) family gets a 50dh discount.
Annual discount: if you register for 2 or 3 terms over the academic year, you pay less. See how much on the next pages.

Discounts are not accumulative.

We reserve the right to modify or withdraw discounts at any time.

How can I find out about my child’s progress and your teaching methods?

There are several ways to find out about your child’s progress and our teaching methods:

At the end of each term young learners will receive a written report of their progress.
You have the opportunity of attending parents’ days during the year to discuss your child’s progress with their teacher.
You have the opportunity to attend parent workshops during the year, which help you to gain a clearer picture of our work, and pick up practical ideas about how you can help and support your child
