the Best Jazz Act 2003

Soweto Kinch, a young and talented jazz musician, came to Morocco from 13 to 15 June 2004 and delivered a performance as part of the EU Jazz Festival, "Jazz aux Oudayas 2004".

Soweto's work is really influenced by Hip Hop and his music merges both Jazz music and spoken lyrics. His debut album, "Conversation with the Unseen", was released last year and critically acclaimed.

Soweto has been shortlisted for a number of awards this year such as BBC Radio Jazz Award rising star 2002 or the MOBO Awards for the Best Jazz Act 2003 among others.

His performance on 14 June was very successful and there was a lot of interaction with the audience. Soweto was seen signing lots of autographs when he got off the stage and was really disappointed to leave Morocco after such a short stay... but he promised he will be back for more performances and workshops with local musicians.
