Inclusive design is a regional project of the British Council with five participating countires: Bosna and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Croatia, Macedonia and the UK. The project is dedicated to the skills development of young people with disability in the area od design and handicrafts.

Partners of the British Council in this project are the Association of Young People with Disability of Montenegro (UMHCG), The University of Montenegro, The Faculty of Fine Arts Cetinje and Delta City Shopping Mall. We have engaged the renowned Montenegrin artists and university lecturers in this project: Nataša Đurović, Ana Matić, Igor Rakčević and Lazar Pejović.

The aim of the project is to improve and develop skills and creativity as well as economic empowerment of young people with disability, raising public awareness of the need for a greater inclusion of pwd into economic, social, educational and cultural processes and  bringing the attention of institutions to the necessary measures for their easier integration.

Activities include mapping, public campaign, workshops and a course in desktop publishing.

MAPPING:

November – December 2011
Data collection and a development of a database on people with disability and related institutions in Montenegro, planning a public campaign, press conference, public discussion, etc. Coordinator: Nataša Đurović, vice rector of the University of Montenegro in cooperation with UMHCG.

CAMPAIGN: DECEMBER – MONTH OF INCLUSION, DELTA CITY

  • Basic skills in working with various materials
  • Number of participants per workshop: 8
  • Requirements: full functionality of hands, desirable basic computer skills (at least 3 people in the group)

Papercraft workshop
5 - 9 December
Wood creativity workshop: working with wood semiproducts
10 December Christmas Bazaar, Delta City
This year’s Christmas Bazaar is a charitable activity aimed at raising funds to buy sports and other equipment for children with disabilities from state run Centre for Education and Rehabilitation of Children and Youth with Disabilities in Podgorica. Participation in the Bazaar will be within the British Council and British Embassy stands, where we can sell products from the workshops.
12 – 16 December
Creative ceramics workshop: working with ceramic semiproducts application of print paint and spray, etc.
19 – 23 December
Creative workshop in working with textile and leather: application of different techniques in working with textile and leather.
Workshops will have a full attention of the media and guest speakers. Coordinator of the workshops: Igor Rakčević, Chair of the Association of Fine Artists of Montenegro (ULUCG).
24 December
Late night shopping craze at Delta City

COURSE IN DESKTOP PUBLISHING (DTP), UNIVERSITY OF MONTENEGRO

February – April 2012

  • A 3 month course in Desktop Publishing (DTP) i.e. graphic operater for press and publishing
  • Number of participants: 8.
  • 2 x week, 3 hours per session
  • Requirements: full functionality of arms and hands, basic computer skills, desirable experience with Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. Consultant: Ana Matić, graphic designer, lecturer at the Faculty of Fine Arts Cetinje, Lazar Pejović, art photographer and lecturer at the Faculty of Fine Arts Cetinje and Antun Heber, graphic designer.
