The Global Gateway is a major web-based initiative to promote the international dimension in education and facilitate collaborative partnerships between schools and teachers around the world. Funded by the UK Government, and managed on their behalf by the British Council, the Global Gateway provides information, guidance, resources and inspiration for all those interested in extending teaching and learning to include educational partnerships with counterparts in different countries.

Amongst the features included on the Global Gateway are:

•A partner finding tool to help teachers find a suitable partner school

•Practical advice on how to plan and develop your partnership

•Ideas and guidance on using ICT to support international partnerships

•Lesson plans and real life case studies  

•A 'Young People’s Zone' for pupils to find out about global issues and concerns

•Information on opportunities for professional development

Seventy governments around the countries have already become formal Strategic International Partners of the Global Gateway and many, such as Poland, are using the platform to promote their country as an ideal place with which to partner.
