WHO RECOGNISES IELTS?
We have launched a new search tool called the Global Recognition System (GRS). This search tool is an exciting development for candidates and recognising organisations. It is designed to help candidates to locate recognising organisations that use IELTS test band score results for admissions/registration purposes. The GRS is an interactive tool and most importantly is available for free on the internet where it is located on the popular IELTS global web site at www.ielts.org

WHAT TYPE OF IELTS SHOULD YOU TAKE?
You can take either the Academic or General Training Reading and Writing modules. The Academic Module is recommended for people who wish to study at a university abroad. It tests whether a candidate is ready to follow an undergraduate or postgraduate course through the medium of English The General Training Module is suitable for students who wish to complete their secondary education in an English-speaking country, for participants of work experience / training programmes, also used for immigration purposes.

The test has four parts covering all four language skills - listening, reading, writing and speaking. The first three modules are completed in one day, while the speaking module may be taken in the period seven days before or after the other Modules.

Candidates are tested in Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. All candidates take the same Listening and Speaking Modules. There is a choice between Academic and General Training in the Reading and Writing Modules.

The total test time is 2 hours and 45 minutes.

The first three modules - Listening, Reading and Writing - must be completed in one day. The Speaking Module may be taken, at the discretion of the test centre, in the period seven days before or after the other Modules.

Scores and validity
All candidates are given a report on their English language ability which gives them a band score according to a scale of 0 to 9 – from Non User to Expert User. The report contains five scores, one for each of the modules and an overall score. The report is normally valid for two years.

HOW DO THE IELTS SCORES COMPARE WITH CAMBRIDGE EXAMS AND WITH THE COMMON EUROPEAN FRAMEWORK LEVELS?

IELTS Results
Your results will be ready 13 days after taking the examination.
Test Report Forms are posted to candidates. Candidates are required to produce ID documents in order to collect their Test Report Form. If you cannot collect it yourself, an authorized person can collect it on your behalf. Authorization must be made in writing stipulating name and ID number of the person. The ID will be checked before the Certificate is issued.

Only one copy of the Test Report Form will be issued for each candidate, and up to 5 copies can be sent to receiving institutions. The receiving institutions can also verify a candidate’s results through IELTS Test Report Form Verification Service.
