"Teacher of the 21st Century:  Continuing Professional Development"
Conference and workshops

British Council is inviting you to the conference on »Continuing Professional Development of Teachers« on Wednesday, 16 May 2012 at the »Ramada Hotel Podgorica*«, starting at 10 am.

The conference is intended for teachers of English in the public and private sectors, head teachers and policy makers.

During the conference, we will present the new British Council »Continuing Professional Development Framework« which is an important resource and support to teachers but also a tool for policy makers in defining local policies on career progression and quality assurance for English language teaching.

Whether you are just starting out as an English language teacher, or you are already highly experienced, the Framework can help you plan your professional development at every stage in your career.

Continuing Professional Development is a process that helps teachers and school managers meet the challenges of their work and achieve their goals. The effective teacher is a developing teacher. The presentations will give us an insight into what's expected of teachers in the 21st century, and how to meet the growing demand for high quality English skills in the context of Montenegro's future accession in the European Union.

The Framework is also a useful tool for policy makers in the sense that it sets out a clear structure of career progression stages and descriptions of expected behaviours and levels of performance at each individual stage, as well as an abundant resource for defining pre-service and in-service programmes.
