British Council has produced a radio-programme for English language learners. This first series consists of twenty 15-minute programmes based on a drama set in a work-place environment and is aimed at 16-25-year-olds.
Since the British Council has offices in over 110 countries worldwide, global programmes usually have multi-cultural character and are applicable and acceptable to audiences all around the world. This programme was developed in cooperation with teaching English professionals, radio producers and actors and presents a high-quality content.
A lively and engaging drama-based format highlighting functional language. The main focus is English for social purposes set in the context of a work-place environment. Obla Air is a small independent ‘budget’ airline, which operates with only one plane. Captain, Maas Obla, the owner of the airline and his crew are so committed they’ll do anything to keep flying! Style of presentation and music is lively and contemporary. The storyline is international with English speaking voices from different countries. The Presenter speaks to listeners in their own language and the co-presenter speaks in English. The theme allows for interaction between a small number of interesting characters, both male and female, operating within an acceptable context for all our audiences . The storyline contains ‘cliff-hangers’, which pull listeners in.
British Council has signed the contracts with the following radio stations : Radio Pljevlja, Radio Berane, Radio Bijelo Polje, Radio Montenegro, Radio Niksic, Radio Kotor, Radio Tivat and Radio Atlas.
Series 2 was launched in September 2011. The programme was broadcasted on the following radio stations: Radio Bijelo Polje, Radio Berane, Radio Tivat, Radio Kotor and Radio Niksic.
