We are looking for a suitably qualified and experienced individual to manage the delivery of the Human Resources function for the British Council in Mexico providing staff and management with the services and guidance that will ensure an efficient, secure and appropriately controlled environment in accordance with legal regulations and British Council values.
Accountabilities, Responsibilities and Main Duties:
• To manage the delivery of the HR function for the office ensuring efficient management and availability of resources to achieve the strategic objectives of the operation.
• To lead on the design of a learning and development plan working with managers to ensure staff has the skills and knowledge required to meet business objectives.
• To lead on the recruitment and selection processes for internal and external candidates, i.e., coordinate job advertisements, collect applications, prepare interview questions, check references and ensure compliance with corporate policy in all steps of the recruitment and selection process.
• To manage labour contracts for locally appointed staff, teachers, temporary staff and hourly paid staff and staff leaving in coordination with line managers.
• To be the first point of contact for staff on issues relating to payroll and terms and conditions of service.
• To manage the Induction process for all new staff (full time, part time or temporary).
• To support all HR policies (including but not limited to Equal Opportunities & Diversity, Child Protection, Staff Award schemes)
• To support the performance evaluation exercises providing guidance to line managers and line managees.
• To update the Organization chart to reflect any change in staff and keep the staff database updated at all times and provide data to HR Business Partner as and when required.
• To keep HR files up to date and ensure all HR documents are safeguarded and retention is in line with local and UK Data Protection regulations.
• To lead on Staff survey Actions Plan ensuring improvements in results year on year
• To support all HR elements of any premises changes (e.g. “hot desking”, flexible working, )
• To support the Regional HR Business Partner Americas based in Colombia as and when requested.
• To manage internships.
• To plan and forecast staff resources and UK appointed costs in line with corporate deadlines
• To monitor cost centre reports in line with agreed timetable.
Experience and Qualifications
• Two years proven experience in human resources or related area is desirable
• Ability to operate in Spanish (both written and spoken) at a business level. Non-native speakers of Spanish should demonstrate a C1 level CEF
• Ability to operate in English at CEF level B1.
• University degree in Human Resources or related area is desirable
Starting gross monthly salary: $24,400
