  • The 4 units of course work are worth 15 postgraduate credits and will normally be completed in a two semester period, with 2 units in each semester.
  • The 1st semester of the Certificate will be  from September to January, with the 2nd semester running from February to May.
  • In each week of a semester during the course, there will be two topics, one for each of the two units in a semester.  You will be expected to devote at least 5 hours a week to each of these two topics.
  • For each week’s topics, there will be readings, interactive tasks and discussion forums moderated by your e-tutors.
  • Award of the Postgraduate Certificate in ELT will be equivalent to 60 postgraduate credits with the University of Southampton. This will qualify successful candidates to apply for an MA in ELT, which will consist of a further 60 course work credits and a dissertation (also worth 60 credits). This further study may take place during one semester residence at the University of Southampton or in an intensive programme in Mexico.
