Global ChangeMakers
The mission of the Global Changemakers programme is to connect and empower youth worldwide to catalyse positive social change.

What Is Global Changemakers?

Global Changemakers are a select group of young people from around the world who have demonstrated a significant track record of achievement in their local communities through social entrepreneurship, community activism and voluntary work. Once part of the global network, GCMs share knowledge, ideas and best practices as well as work individually and collectively on projects that directly impact the lives of people in their local communities. The initiative promotes cultural understanding and dialogue among youth and is a key cultural relations offering of the organisation

How is this achieved?

The Global Changemakers program has many components to succeed in creating a powerful global network for action that provides opportunities to share experiences and help young people make differences in their communities, countries and regions, such as:

Bring together young activists to debate issues, develop action plans and act on these plans as a global network.

Develop the skills of the participants in relevant areas such as project management and fundraising.

Provide opportunities and resources otherwise beyond their reach, enabling them to become global Changemakers.

Support participants in developing and running community action programmes (CAPs), ensuring that there is cooperation between those programmes and participants.

Furthermore, by giving access to global platforms such as WEF and UN events, Global Changemakers gives participants a voice to engage with global leaders.

Community Action Projects (CAPs)

Community Action Projects or CAPs: Perhaps the most integral part of Global Changemakers is that the Changemakers are invited to design and run their own community projects. They are supported by the British Council by means of seedcorn funding and mentoring. Currently there are over 35 CAPs all over the world in several areas of activism such as Human rights, Climate Change, Peace, Poverty relief, Youth work, Women’s rights among others.
