The University’s International and Study Abroad Office provides assistance for overseas students and administers Study Abroad and exchange programmes between Sussex and partner institutions abroad. The Office is open on weekdays to answer queries on a range of issues such as immigration, employment or financial regulations. It also organises social events and excursions to places around Britain, enables you to experience life with a British family for a weekend, and produces the handbook and a termly newsletter for international students.
Sussex has a well-developed network of specialist staff within the schools who can help you deal with both academic and personal issues. Simple matters can often be dealt with swiftly by school administrative staff, who have a great deal of experience in dealing with a wide range of questions. Students can also have access to Psychological and Counselling Services.
The Student’s Union runs over 70 societies, including a Mexican Society and there are 35 sports clubs. The University also runs lots of activities, entertainment and excursions, both on and off campus. Sport facilities on campus include multi-purpose sports halls, a fitness room, dance studio, squash courts, grass soccer pitches, a rugby and cricket pitch, tennis courts, a floodlit soccer and hockey pitch, and a lifestyles studio. There are swimming pools and of course, the sea, in Brighton, for any water sports.
