The La Salle University

Founded in 1962, Universidad La Salle is an institution of higher education committed to the integrated development of its students. It is part of the worldwide network of Christian Brothers Schools which were begun in the 17th century by the French educator, St. John Baptist De La Salle.

The university offers programs at undergraduate, master’s and doctorate levels. The student population is approximately 6,000. The university’s urban campus offers 27 undergraduate programs in the areas of Architecture, Design, Business, Education, Psychology, Chemical Sciences, Finances, Engineering, Law, Philosophy and Religion. The School of Medicine has one of the country’s best medical programs.

The La Salle university system offers access to campuses throughout Mexico: Cancun, Chihuahua, Cuernavaca, Ciudad Obregon, Ciudad Victoria, Guadalajara, Morelia, Gomez Palacios, Leon, Pachuca, Saltillo, Monterrey, Puebla and Ciudad Nezahualcoyotl.

Universidad La Salle (ULSA) is centrally located within the heart of the trendy Colonia Condesa, which can be easily reached by subway, bus or taxi. It is within walking distance of many restaurants, cafés, bookstores, museums and movie theaters, and only a twenty–minute ride from the Historic Center of downtown Mexico City

Accommodation

La Salle can provide homestays with Mexican families to further enhance the learning experience or students can make their own arrangements. All housing available to exchange students is carefully screened by the Center for International Education (CIEL). Most homes are within a 15-minute radius of the main campus. The service with/without meals includes bed linens. Cost will vary depending on the accommodations selected.

International Students

Student–related services and facilities include computer centers with internet access, wireless access in public areas, videoconferencing, a cultural activities center which includes music, literature, theatre, handicrafts, gastronomy, the folkloric dance group “Tradicion Mexicana”, the vocal groups the “Estudiantina” and the ULSA choir, a language center, and an international education center.  ULSA also offers students the university library, medical dispensary, cafeterias and fully–equipped athletic facilities including a gym, swimming pool, weight room and basketball, soccer, tennis and volleyball courts, as well as Tae Kwon Do, aerobics, bowling, football, hiking among others.

Volunteer programs and internships

The Volunteer program of Universidad La Salle (ULSA), offers students the opportunity to serve as a volunteers or interns in a community center where they can live with and participate in the daily activities of people who are often marginalized and in economic need.

Foreign students can also be placed in internships related to their field of study.
