British Council Connecting Classrooms is a global programme that creates mutually beneficial partnerships between schools in the UK and in other countries. Through these partnerships the programme develops trust and understanding between young people in different societies, creating a safer and more connected world for the future.
Partnerships bring an international dimension to young people's learning and imporve their knowledge and understanding of other cultures, preparing them for life and work in a global society.
Connecting Classrooms benefits learners, teachers, school leadersa and the wider community.
Connecting Clasrooms provides professional development for scool leaders and teachers. They receive training and support materials to prepare them to working in an international context and to help develop their partnerships to achieve the best possible outcomes for them and their learners.
School leaders are encouraged to visit partner schools. These visits offer an oportunity for face-to-face discussion and project planning. They also provide first-hand experience of different approaches to teaching, leadership and learning in other countries. The sharing of best practice and new ideas helps achieve higher standards in both teaching and learning.
Professional development as a means to imporve educaiton was the driver of the regional project SLANT and school leaders have been key participants. They have been involved in idetifying specific areas of activity, in line with educational priorities in the Latin America and Caribbean region, and have been working together to develop skills in a range of areas including school management, evaluation, staff development, implementation of ICT, social inclusion and relations with the community.
At this stage, we are only implementing this porgramme in the states of Baja California Sur, Aguascalientes y Veracruz
