New Work New Audiences
New Work New Audiences is a global large-scale cultural relations project that uses new arts work to engage with the British Council’s audiences, impacting on individuals and institutions in the cultural sector and beyond, strengthening the international profile and engagement of the UK’s creative sector. We will present activities in film, literature and music with Mexican and UK partners focused on identifying, developing and showing innovative work that demonstrates the creative nature of UK society.

NWNA activities in 2011 and 2012 include:

Hay Festival of Literature and the Arts
6-9 October in Xalapa, Veracruz

For more than 20 years the Hay Festival has brought writers, thinkers, musicians, film-makers and scientists together around the world to cross cultural and genre barriers and foster the exchange of ideas. Hay sets literature within a wider cultural and social context that creates high definition live festivals and internationally resonant media impact. In Bill Clinton’s famous phrase it is the “Woodstock of the mind”.

British Council is preparing an exciting programme to present the best of Contemporary UK. Stay tuned for the programming later in August
