HOW CAN I REGISTER FOR IELTS?

You can register for IELTS by following these steps:

1.Select your test details

Go to our online registration website. Select Saudi Arabia, a test location, date and module.

2.Complete your application form

Complete the online application form. You will receive acknowledgment of your application by email.

3.Pay for your test

In person
Print the email and bring it to the British Council in Riyadh, Jeddah or Al Khobar along with payment, photographs and ID.

By post
Print the email and send it by courier to the British Council in Riyadh, Jeddah or Al Khobar along with payment, photographs and ID.

Please note:
We can only accept draft cheques applications sent by courier, do not send cash. Please see the payment section for more details.

Applications will be cancelled if payment is not received within five working days of completing the online application form.

4.Confirmation of your test

When the British Council receives your payment, you will receive another email confirming your registration. You will also receive a password for a 30-hour online IELTS preparation course, Road to IELTS.

What documents do I need to provide?

ID

Saudi nationals must include a clear copy of their national ID or valid passport with their IELTS application.

Non-Saudi nationals must include a clear copy of their valid passport and Iqama.

No other forms of ID will be accepted (e.g. family ID).

The ID must be valid for at least one month from the date of the test.

This ID must be presented on test day; no other ID will be accepted for any of the 4 modules

If the ID you used for your application is not available for the test day, please inform the British Council at least one week before test day.

PHOTOGRAPHS

Please include two colour passport-sized photographs with your application. The photographs must:

  • be in colour
  • be identical
  • be no more than 6 months old
  • be taken against a plain background so that features are clearly distinguishable
  • be undamaged
  • be in sharp focus and clear
  • be print quality of professional standard
  • be a close-up of the head and shoulders
  • show the candidate looking straight at the camera
  • show the candidate with a neutral expression
  • show the candidate with the mouth closed
  • show the candidate with eyes open and clearly visible
  • show the candidate without glasses
  • not show any shadows
  • not show anything covering the face, the outlines of the eyes, nose or mouth

Please write your full name on the reverse of each photograph and sign it.

HOW CAN I PAY FOR MY TEST?

The IELTS test fee is SR 850.

We accept cash payments at all British Council centres in KSA.

You may also pay for your test by draft cheque from a local Saudi bank made payable to 'The British Council'.

Please note:

  • We cannot accept payment directly into a British Council account
  • We cannot accept personal cheques
  • For postal applications send a draft cheque, do not send cash
CAN I CANCEL OR TRANFER MY TEST DATE?

Test date transfers or refunds are allowed once only and such requests can only be accepted if they are received by British Council Examination Services at least five weeks (35 days) before your test date.

An administration charge of SAR 210 will be charged for refunds and transfers.

Candidates who wish to cancel their registration or transfer test dates within the five week period prior to the test date will only be allowed to do so if they can satisfy the IELTS Administrator that their ability to take the test has been affected by illness or another serious cause.

Serious causes include:

  • Serious illness, e.g. hospital admission or serious injury (this does not include minor illnesses such as a cold)
  • Loss of an immediate family member
  • Trauma such as crime or a traffic accident
  • Military service

A Request for Refund for Test Date Transfer Form is available at the British Council, or for download at the British Council Saudi Arabia website.

WHAT ARRANGEMENTS ARE AVAILABLE FOR CANDIDATES WITH Special NEEDS?
Candidates requiring special arrangements due to temporary or long-term disability, such as hearing/sight impairment, dyslexia or speech impediment must give three months notice to the British Council so that appropriate guidance and approval can be obtained from the IELTS Special Circumstances Unit.
How will I get my results?

Your results will be available 13 days after the test date.

Getting your results:

  • You can collect your Test Report Form (TRF) at the British Council centre where you took your test
  • You can also request your test report form to be sent to you by courier
  • You can check your results online

Please note:

The original IELTS Test Report Form (TRF) can be collected only by the candidate from the British Council Customer Services or by a third party if they have an authorisation letter signed by the candidate.

We cannot give any information regarding results over the phone or by email.

Sending IELTS results to institutions:

We can send five original TRFs electronically to the Recognising Organisations named in your application within one month of the result date free of charge.

We can also send hard copy TRFs to Recognising Organisations by courier.

You can also request additional TRFs to be sent to institutions (SAR 60 per TRF + courier charges).
