“Laugh as you learn”
Punk Science, the resident comic troupe at the Science Museum’s Dana Centre, UK, is known for explosive, mind-blowing and unadulterated stand-up comedy shows and performances about contemporary science. The group combines the talents of comedian Jon Milton, actor Dan Hope and drummer Bradford Gross. There are no weirdy-beardies at their gigs, just three nice boys using comedy, music and some dangerous experimentation to explain things in a way that even they can understand it!
Punk Science has performed on a range of science topics including the science of gluttony, the global energy crisis and The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and has received rave reviews from the media and public alike.
If you want to look clever in the pub and discuss theoretical physics, or even if you are just worried about the possibility of alien invasion, come along and get inspired.
In Malta, the group is going to perform two shows:
In an unprecedented bid to make physics funny, punkscientists have decided to tackle one of the most complex (and possibly least amusing) scientific achievements of all time: all of Einstein’s major theories, Brownian motion, the Photoelectric Effect, the Special and General Theories of Relativity and everybody’s favourite equation E=MC2. Not only that, but they’re also in touch with Einstein as an icon, what happened to his brain and why, like Oasis, he never quite lived up to the promise of his early work.
The punkscience team - who fuse Edinburgh style stand-up with serious science lecture - will explain Einstein’s theories, importance and impact on modern day life in 45 minutes of video footage, music, slide shows, interactive voting, sketches and bizarre experiments of dubious merit.
The truth is out there, and now the punkscientists can prove it…
Aliens is a rip-roaring ride through star systems, crop circles, UFOs, extraterrestrials and maybe a peek at the 1986 cult film. Punk Science asks: is anybody out there? If so…How do we find them? What would they be like? Are they already here? Does anybody actually care? Punk Science finds out the answers in 60 minutes of action packed science experiments, music, audience voting, gags and demos.
