ZIGUZAJG KIDS & YOUTH ARTS FESTIVAL
14-20 NOVEMBER 2011

The British Council is supporting a week-long festival aimed at children up to 16 years of age, organised by The Office of the Prime Minister, in direct collaboration with St James Cavalier Center for Creativity. The festival will be hosted in various and historic venues around Valletta.

Inspired to promote the beauty of interaction with performing arts amongst children, the festival has been themed ŻIGUŻAJG and will kick off on Monday 14th November to culminate on Sunday 20th November, World Children’s Day.

With the engagement of around 26 Maltese and international performing acts, ŻIGUŻAJG features a intense programme of performances from professional performers specialised in productions for the children. “We are hereby creating a set of performing acts that are very accessible to children who will be able to relate easily to the performers and the event itself,” explains Sarah Spiteri, Artistic Director of ŻIGUŻAJG. “If we have to sum it up in one sentence, we can safely say that through this programme, all the attending children will discover the joy instilled by interacting with the performing arts.”

The following UK companies participate in the festival:

Architects of Air (Miracoco Luminarium)
Bamboozle Theatre (Jilly and the Jellyfish)
M6 Theatre Company (One Little Word)
Starcatchers (Oops a Daisy)

Throughout the whole week, the festival will be welcoming children from a number of schools around Malta and Gozo for performances in the morning whereas in the afternoon, performances will be open to all the family.

The morning events for schools between Monday 14th and Friday 18th November will be held between 9.00am and 1.00pm whereas in the afternoon, all families and the public are welcome to attend any of the events which will be held between 4.00pm and 7.00pm. On Saturday 19th and Sunday 20th November, all events will be non-stop starting at 9.00am and finishing at 7.00pm.

Entrance to all events is free of charge. Full programme is available at: www.ziguzajg.org

Schools, families and the public wishing to attend will all be required to book via the festival’s official website (www.ziguzajg.org)
