ABOUT THIS COURSE
Our online CELTA is held over a 20 week period.  It will involve input delivered online as well as face-to-face teaching practice and observations. Candidates will have to come in on 2 week-day evenings, to observe adult classes at the centre.  Days and times will be negotiated with individual candidates.  Candidates will be given access to an online learning platform to participate in the input at their own pace in their own home. Several times on the course candidates are required to all go online at the same time to join a “liveroom” discussion.  Teaching practice and feedback will be on Sundays in the British Council Teaching Centre, either from 9am-1pm or 2.15pm-6.15pm.

Teaching practice starts from the second Sunday of the course. Course participants also observe experienced teachers at work, and are given formal written assignments.

This course provides basic training in English Language Training, ELT. The training emphasises a student-centred approach and requires extensive, supervised teaching practice in actual classes with adult learners from beginners to advanced level.

The aim of the CELTA course is to provide a solid, practical foundation for teaching, classroom management skills and a range of effective ESL / EFL instructional techniques.
