We’re excited to unveil the Malaysian finalist for IYME 2009 – its none other than…
Lau Hoe Yin a.k.a Blink Electronic Music Producer, DJ and Designer www.blinkville.com

This year’s winner was selected by a distinguished panel of judges with some of the country’s most influential names in the music industry:
Sandy Monteiro, Universal Music South East Asia Senior Vice President and Recording Institute of Malaysia (RIM) Chairman
Darren Choy, former Managing Director for Sony Music Malaysia and EMI Music Malaysia, currently MD for Adidas Malaysia and Singapore
Ahmad Izham Omar, formerly of EMI Malaysia and MD of Positive Tone records, Vice-Chairperson of MACP Bhd, Head of Radio Network Media Prima and Chief Executive Officer of 8TV
and Hardesh Singh, IYME 2008 finalist, Composer/Producer and co-founder of Popfolio Sdn. Bhd.
Blink is no stranger to the club scene in KL. At 26, he’s won awards and competitions for his turntable skills, played at international festivals such as the 2007 Global Gathering in the UK and has conceptualised and created several popular club nights - Electic Phunk, Mis-shapes, Hura Hura and LapSap, the last being his most successful endeavour yet.
Commenting on the factors why Blink was selected to represent Malaysia in 2009, all the judges felt strongly that the current movement of music entrepreneurship is in integrating music seamlessly with lifestyle without sacrificing integrity or passion for the art form.
The judges agreed that Blink brought a uniqueness to the table and was a music entrepreneur who was also a successful creator in both artistic and commercial terms.
“He represents the young, new way of thinking by combining music with fashion and fun,” added Izham Omar.
Blink will represent Malaysia in the UK, where as part of a 12-day tour, he will be given the opportunity to network with the cream of UK music industry professionals in London and Manchester, attend The Great Escape live music festival and industry convention, one of the leading events in Europe for showcasing new talent from around the world, aimed at 'export ready' bands and Industry Professionals, and also be in the running the ultimate title of International Young Music Entrepreneur 2009 which comes with a financial award of £5,000.

We would like to thank all of those who participated and assisted in our search for the Malaysian music entrepreneur and wish Blink all the best when he competes at the finals in May this year! |
