With the rising number of Influenza A (H1N1) cases that have been confirmed in Malaysia, we would like to reassure everyone that the British Council will be monitoring the situation carefully and listening to advice from the Malaysian Ministry of Health and the World Health Organization.
We are also recommending the following steps to help prevent or contain the spread of the virus:

1. Hygiene and hand washing |

- All students and staff are encouraged to be extra vigilant with daily hygiene and wash hands regularly and thoroughly.
 - For the forthcoming weekends Anti-bacterial hand sanitisers will be available in every classroom for use by all students and staff.

2. Sickness |
|
|
- If you are experiencing any flu-like symptoms please do not come to class. Instead seek medical attention.
*H1N1 flu signs and symptoms have consisted of influenza-like illness including sudden onset of fever, plus cough or sore throat
- To parents of Young Learners: if your child becomes unwell during the class, please ask him/her to inform the teacher and we will call you.

3. Monitoring |
|
|
- We will be conducting visual screening of students. If a student appears unwell or complains of flu-like symptoms, we will recommend they seek medical attention immediately.
- To parents of Young Learners: we will call you to collect him/her and recommend seeking medical attention. Please ensure that you update our records if you have changed your contact number.

4. Awareness |
|
|
- The situation and level of risk may change quickly. Please keep yourself updated on any changes by visiting our website. We would put information here if for any reason we were required to close.
