This course is designed for adults (aged 18 and over).


ABOUT THIS COURSE
The aim of this course is for you to communicate in English with confidence. You will do fun learning activities and focus on grammar and vocabulary and the skills you need for effective and accurate speaking and writing.


ASSESSMENT
Progress is assessed continuously and at the end of the term, you will receive a certificate with grades for speaking, writing, grammar and vocabulary and participation.

Half way through the course you have a counselling session with your teacher, in which you discuss your progress and how to focus on areas of weakness or interest.

If necessary you can also make an appointment to meet our Student Counsellor for extra advice and support.


CONTENT
At each level the course will help you to communicate with confidence in writing and speaking, with appropriate grammar, a wide vocabulary, and clear pronunciation.

There is a strong emphasis on speaking with tasks providing a regular opportunity for you to speak based around realistic topics and situations.

Our listening material consists of short extracts, mini-dialogues and longer texts (interviews, stories and conversations) many of which are authentic.

A wide range of reading material such as newspaper articles, factual/scientific texts, stories, and quizzes, studied in a number of different ways to develop your reading skills.

Your writing skills will be developed through regular writing tasks including e-mails, stories, and reviews.

There will be work on your pronunciation throughout the course and also the development of learning skills.
