Please note that our courses are usually quite full and sometimes there is not a placement test available immediately.

We apologise if this is the case for you and will do our best to make sure you get a test as soon as possible.

What is it?
There is a written test that takes about 30 minutes and then you have a short speaking test with one of our teachers.

You can show us how well you can communicate in English.

You should also tell the teacher when you would like to study (daytime or evening) and if you want to study General, Business or IELTS English.

There are brochures with more information about these courses in our centres, or you can click here.

Our placement test tells you which level (Beginner, Elementary, Pre-Intermediate, Intermediate, Upper Intermediate or Advanced) you will join.

Where does the test take place?
At the British Council Kuala Lumpur, or the British Council Penang.

For adults who want to study English part-time placement tests are held in December (for January start), March (for April start), June (for July start) and September (for October start).
