English language exams for UK visa

People from outside the European Economic Area and Switzerland who apply to come to the UK as the:

husband,
wife,
civil partner,
unmarried partner,
same-sex partner,
fiancé(e) or
prospective civil partner

of a UK citizen or

a person settled in this country now

need to demonstrate that they have at least level A1 English.

The UK Border Agency has recognised a full range of Cambridge English qualifications for these visas. Cambridge English qualifications recognised for UK partner visas that are administered by the British Council in Macedonia include:

Cambridge English: Key (KET) - A2 level
Cambridge English: Preliminary (PET) - B1 level
Cambridge English: First (FCE) - B2 level
Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) - C1 level
Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE) - C2 level
Business English Certificates (BEC) - B1-C1 level
International Legal English Certificate (ILEC) - B2-C1 level
International Certificate in Financial English (ICFE) - B2-C1 level
