Project Description:
Two British composers, a Macedonian musicologist and a Romanian Contemporary Music Ensemble will gather for a professional collaboration during a workshop in Cisnadie, Romania. Their goal is helping young musicians attending the workshop to find viable solutions for a successful artistic career.

Beside technical aspects in composition, research and performing, the participants will discuss probed ways to achieve public recognition by efficiently interacting with the contemporary environment.

The part of the workshop coordinated by Roza Nolcheva looks into the current trends of the music business in South –East Europe (with an accent on the Balkan countries, Macedonia and Romania) and into the problem of young musicians from this part of the world making their way into the highly competitive field of music both as composers and performing musicians.

Part of the lectures concentrate on the skills young composers, musicologists and performers need to master in order to be able to actively take part in the music business.  This includes contractual matters, artist-agent relationships etc. Part of the lectures aim at the new development of the classical/contemporary music world and the challenges it presents to young artists and composers.

Project launch date: July 30th 2009
