If you choose to follow a postgraduate programme in the UK you become part of a tradition dedicated to excellence and innovation that has produced over 70 Nobel prize winners for science alone.
There are two types of postgraduate courses: research and taught. Research courses offer the opportunity for students who want to pursue their own special interests, either through a research Masters or a PhD. Taught courses - diplomas, certificates and Masters courses - consist of classes, seminars and a dissertation.
Research postgraduate courses Students initiate and develop their topic of interest under the supervision of academics (sometimes, under two academics). To be successful, research students must demonstrate intellectual independence. Research completed for an MPhil can often later be integrated into a PhD programme.
Taught postgraduate courses There are two main types of taught postgraduate courses that enable you to achieve an MA or a MSc:
Masters courses: Masters programmes normally consist of class and seminars plus a dissertation;
Diploma or certificate courses: These sometimes consist of the taught elements of a Masters course without the dissertation. Some diploma courses enable you to transfer to a Masters on successful completion.
Alternatively, you might consider studying for an MBA (Masters of Business Administration).
Iranian undergraduate students with good standing from a university recognized by the Iranian Ministry of Science generally qualify for postgraduate programs in the UK.
