The South East Europe region is of critical importance to the UK’s objective of building stability and enhancing security in countries neighbouring the European Union.
In today’s interdependent and increasingly fragmented world, our task to create understanding and trust has a vital importance. We work across the globe to encourage dialogue, supporting reform and build lasting relationships. We believe that intercultural dialogue is among the most important priorities for societies worldwide today. The idea encompasses a wide range of issues, such as ethnically based conflict, economic migration, religious tolerance and equal opportunities. At its centre: a belief that celebrating difference is essential to the successful development of societies in the long-term; also, that honest and vibrant dialogue between people is a vital component in learning to embrace diversity.
The British Council is the UK’s international organisation for educational opportunities and cultural relations. We've been working in the UK since 1934 and in the South East Europe region since 1938.
