British Council in partnership with the Office of the Equal Opportunities and Information Office of the Council of Europe are organizing an international conference on Human Rights Education on 9 December, 2005 at Vilnius Municipality.

The conference aims to contribute to the Council of Europe initiative 2005 European Year of Citizenship through Education by

  • raising awareness of Human Rights Education (HRE)
  • developing networks and communities of educators in Education for Democratic Citizenship (EDC) and HRE regionally and across Europe

The main audience are:

teachers and teacher trainers of different subjects, especially social sciences and languages
head teachers
regional education authorities
education policy makers
representatives of non-governmental organizations and governance institutions related to HRE
