HOW TO REGISTER FOR IELTS?

Currently, you can register for IELTS either online or by filling in the paper application form.

ONLINE REGISTRATION

In order to register for the IELTS exam online you should:

1. Enter you personal data online

Enter your personal data into the online registration system  Please read the paragraphs ‘Your rights, Declaration, IELTS Disclaimer and British Council Privacy Policy’ very carefully before starting the registration. When you finish the process print out IELTS Application Summary. As soon as you complete the application process you will get a confirmation e-mail with your candidate details and a unique IELTS reference number.

2. Pay the test fee

Pay the examination fee according to the instructions given in the registration system no later than 5 calendar days after registering for the exam. The test fee (580 Litas) should be paid by bank transfer only.

3. Send documents to the British Council by post

Send by regular or courier mail within 5 calendar days after registering for the exam the following documents:

  1. 1 photograph, 4x5 cm, no older than 6 months. Your face should be on a light background. You should look straight ahead. Candidates must not wear glasses in the photographs they submit for IELTS registration. Please state your name and the examination date on the back of your photographs.
  2. A clear and legible photocopy of your passport or ID card (whichever you indicated on your application form).
  3. A print out of the Application Summary or an e-mail confirming your registration.
  4. A proof of payment (bank slip or print-out of your e-banking transfer).

PAPER APPLICATIONS

In order to register for the IELTS exam by paper application you should:

1.Fill in the Application Form.

2.Pay the test fee

The test fee (580 Litas) should be paid by bank transfer only.

Please note that faxed or e-mailed application materials are not accepted.

INFORMATION YOU WILL RECEIVE BY EMAIL

Candidates who applied for IELTS (either online or using paper application forms) will receive the following information from the British Council by e-mail:

  • Confirmation of Registration
  • password to Road to IELTS – on-line preparation materials for the exam. You will get 30 hours of free online self study materials from the British Council to support your preparation The unique password issued at registration will be valid until one week after the test date.
  • a separate email with detailed information about the time and place of the exam (approximately one week before the exam date). If you have not received an e-mail from us 5 days before the exam please send us an e-mail at exams@britishcouncil.lt or call us on +370 5 246 2958.
Waiting Lists
If you missed the registration deadline you still have a chance to take the exam on the date of your choice. Please e-mail British Council at exams@britishcouncil.lt to find out about the availability of places. You may be put on the waiting list for a certain test date. Please note that a waiting list is meant for candidates who are ready to replace a drop-out from the main list at a very short notice.
SPECIAL NEEDS AND ARRANGEMENTS
We make every effort to cater for the special needs of disabled candidates. It is our aim for all candidates to be assessed fairly and objectively. If you have a special need, please talk to (+370 5 246 2958) or contact us when registering. We may need three months to organise arrangements.
CANCELLATION / TRANSFER AND REFUNDS

To cancel your exam you need to fill in the Transfer/Refund Form.

If you cancel your exam more than 5 weeks before the test, you will be refunded 490 Litas.

If you cancel your exam within the five-week period of the test date you will receive no refund.

To transfer the date of the exam you need to fill in the Transfer/Refund Form. Please, note that you will be able to transfer only once.

If your application for transfer is approved, you will have to pay additional 90 Litas administrative fee.

If you are absent on the day of the exam without prior notice you will get no refund.

If you provide the original of a medical certificate proving that your absence has been affected by serious illness or other serious cause within 5 working days of the exam you will be refunded 490 Litas of the exam fee.
