UCAS Application Pack

What is UCAS?

UCAS is the central body that handles most applications to undergraduate courses throughout Britain.

How do I apply through UCAS?

To apply through UCAS you have to fill in a UCAS application form. For 2008 entry you should apply online by filling in the ucasapply electronic application. You can use ucasapply from any computer that can access the internet (e.g. your home computer or internet café).

This form enables you to apply for a maximum of 6 courses/institutions in Britain. UCAS does not make any decisions on applications or provide applicants with course advice; these matters are dealt with by the admissions staff at the individual institutions that receive a copy of your UCAS form.

When do I apply to UCAS?

From 25 September you can submit your UCAS form for the 2008 entry. UCAS will start to process applications at the end of September 2007. The UCAS deadline for 2008 entry is 15 January 2008. Exceptions to this rule are applications to Cambridge, Oxford and most medicine, dentistry and veterinary medicine courses, when your application should reach UCAS by the 15 October 2007. For Art and Design Route B courses the UCAS application deadline is the 24 March 2008.

If you are an international (overseas) student applying from outside the EU you can apply through UCAS at any time up until 30 June 2008. It is however advisable to apply as early as possible as popular courses may not have vacancies at later dates. Some institutions will not consider applicants after the official UCAS deadline of 15 January 2008.

How can I get hold of a UCAS form?

For 2008 entry you should apply online by filling in the ucasapply electronic application.
