FAQ
Frequently asked questions

If you qualify for any of the scholarship schemes, you may have some questions about the application process. Here is a list of the most common queries. Please get in touch with us if you need more information.

Can I apply for more than one scholarship scheme?
Yes, of course, if you fulfil the eligibility criteria of each.
What if my letter of acceptance arrived after the application deadline?
Usually, universities do not send their unconditional offers before our scholarship application deadlines. If you receive a conditional offer before the deadline in question add it to your file before submission. Otherwise enclose any acknowledgement of receipt of your application by the academic institution.
Where do I obtain a proof of my proficiency in English?
We are an accredited centre for International English Language Testing System (IELTS). Please contact us to get information on how to register for an IELTS test. A TOEFL score is also accepted.
What are the selection criteria?
The relevance of the programme you selected to Lebanon and the Middle East region along with grades and work experience are central in the evaluation of each candidate. In addition letters of recommendation and future goals expressed in the essay of the scholarship application form are also important.
How many people apply every year?
We receive a total number of 50-100 applications for each scheme. The competition level is very high and candidates are chosen on the basis of merit.
How many scholars are selected?
Depending on the availability of funds. The average is 3 to 4 candidates for each of the schemes.
How do I know if I am selected?
If you are selected for a preliminary interview, we will inform you by telephone or email.
Do you tell me if I am not selected?
We email all candidates who have applied to any of the scholarship schemes we administer to inform them whether they have been successful or not. Please expect an email from us by April at the maximum.
Can you tell me why I am not selected?
All scholarship schemes are highly competitive. Consequently, it is expected that all students who apply be amongst the top 5%. Unfortunately funds are limited and it is only possible to grant a small number of scholarships. The British Council will convey the reasons when and if provided by the funding body.
Can I apply the year after in case I am not accepted?
Yes, you may apply again, but up to two consecutive times only.
Are there other funding bodies?
Yes, and to know more about these funding bodies, you can visit our Knowledge and Learning Centre.
How can I get more information and advice?

If after you have carefully browsed the website, you still have pending questions, you can visit our Knowledge and Learning Centre on Wednesdays between 14.00 and 16.00 where there will be a Project Manager to assist you.
