Contest Instructions

We have selected several UK destination photos for our competition and a simple, fun way for you to win one of the three marvellous prizes.

You will choose your favourite destination and give it a creative, correct English caption; Please make sure to check caption specifications below to understand how to write a winning caption.

Once you have done that, invite your friends to vote for your photo.

Three winners will be chosen based on the highest number of votes and correct English caption.

Prize Eligibility

Only persons residing in Lebanon who are at least 18 years of age can enter.

*The grand prize winner will be responsible for arranging their own visa to the UK but we will cover the fee; the prize is non-redeemable; destination and airline cannot be changed; the prize must be used in year 2013.

Terms and Conditions

  • Competition starts on 25 February 2013 and ends on 31 March 2013 at 10:00pm.
  • Competition is open to all British Council Lebanon Facebook page fans who are aged 18 and above.
  • Competition is open to all people residing in Lebanon who are at least 18 years of age.
  • The British Council Lebanon Facebook page team will post several UK destination photos for entrants to choose from. Participants will choose their photo and give it a creative, correct English caption and invite their friends to vote for their photo. British Council Lebanon will choose only three winners from all the competition entries. The choice will be based on the chosen photo’s number of votes and correct English caption and prizes will be given accordingly.
  • The three winners’ names will be posted with their photos, captions, and votes count on the British Council Lebanon page after five working days from the closing date.
  • Only one entry per person is permitted throughout the competition. Multiple entries disqualify the candidate from the whole competition.
  • Participants must like the British Council Lebanon Facebook page to be able to enter and/or vote and correctly enter their details in the fill out form.
  • The British Council reserves the right to disqualify any entrant who appears to have accumulated "fake votes" or “Vote Exchange”. "Fake votes" are votes from Facebook users that are considered non-authentic i.e. with no physical user/real person behind the profile. “Vote Exchange” are Facebook pages that facilitate the trading of contest votes. The British Council may also decide to only disregard the "fake votes" without disqualifying the entrant.
  • All entries must be received by the specified closing date. All eligible entries received by the closing date have an equal chance of winning. Entries not submitted in accordance with the rules or incomplete or illegible entries will be disqualified.
  • Winners will be notified by e-mail and their names will be published on the Facebook page.
  • Winners will receive their prizes at the British Council office.
  • Winners need to collect their prize within one month of notification date. Winners cannot claim their prize after one month of notification.
  • Prizes are not transferable or exchangeable for cash.
  • The British Council’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  • By entering, any subsequent winners agree to allow the free use of their names for publicity and news purposes of the British Council.
  • All information detailing how to enter this competition forms part of these terms and conditions. It is a condition of entry that all rules are accepted as final and that the participant agrees to abide by these rules. Submission of an entry will be taken to mean acceptance of these terms and conditions.
  • The British Council reserves the right to amend these rules at any time.

Caption Specifications

  • A caption is a short piece of text under a photo which describes the photo.
  • The picture caption should describe the picture and/or any other additional information the candidate would like to say about the picture.
  • The caption needs to be not less than one correct sentence.
  • The caption has to be written in correct English. The structure, grammar and spelling of the caption all have to be mistakes free. Captions with wrong English disqualify the whole competition entry.
  • A submitted caption cannot be used more than once.
