YLE - Young Learners English reward children's efforts to learn English. They are an ideal introduction to public examinations for children aged between 7 and 12 and encourage them to develop a positive attitude to language learning.
- Cambridge Starters is the first key level and is intended for children between the ages of 7 and 11. Children are likely to have completed one year of English and are expected to have an active vocabulary of around 300 words.
- Cambridge Movers is the second key level and is designed for children aged between 8 and 12. Children are likely to have completed approximately three years of English and are expected to have an active vocabulary of around 600 words.
- Cambridge Flyers is the third key level and is intended for children between the ages of 9 and 12 who have been studying English for more than three years and have reached a level of English ability specified by the Council of Europe's Waystage document. This is the same level as KET. Children are expected to have an active vocabulary of around 1000 words.
- Provisional Entry Forms from schools must reach us no later than 8 weeks before the date of the exam. We suggest that schools consider enrolling their students either in January/ February or May/ June to coincide with the school semester system.
- Actual entries should reach us 10 days before the test date.
Your certificate will be despatched from Cambridge to our office within two weeks of receipt of test materials in Cambridge.
There is no pass or fail. If you took part in the complete test, you will receive an award.
