Bulats - Business Language Testing Service is a language assessment specifically for the use of companies and organisations which need a reliable way of assessing the language ability of their staff.

WHO USES BULATS AND HOW MANY TESTS ARE AVAILABLE?

The Business Language Testing Service (BULATS) is a multilingual tool for companies and organisations that need a rapid, reliable and cost effective way of assessing the language skills of employees, trainees and job applicants. BULATS tests communication skills that are needed in real workplace situations.

There are four different types of test available:

  • BULATS Computer Test (max. 85minutes),
  • BULATS Standard Test (min 110 minutes),
  • BULATS Writing Test (45 minutes),
  • BULATS Speaking Test (12 minutes).   

Bulats is available in English, French, German and Spanish

WHEN CAN I DO THE TEST AND HOW ARE RESULTS SCALED?

BULATS results are offered on a 0 -100 scale. Separate scores are given for each section of the test. All the tests aim to assess candidates across the six levels of the ALTE Framework, i.e. the same test is used for all candidates whatever their level (0-5 of the ALTE Framework correspond to the Council of Europe Framework levels A1-C2).

If you have more than 25 students then we can organise the exam at your premises. Extra dates are available and we offer a discount. Please contact us by e-mail at the beginning of the school year or as soon as possible.

Special Needs

We aim to do our best to cater for candidates with special needs.  We will do all we can to enable candidates to understand test questions and ways of giving answers. All candidates, irrespective of their disability, will be assessed fairly and objectively.

Candidates who require special arrangements are asked to contact us before they submit their application. Relevant supporting materials such as medical certificates should be submitted during registration.

Therefore, please understand that we cannot be held responsible for any interruptions caused by circumstances beyond our control. If examinations or their results are disrupted, cancelled or delayed, every effort will be made to resume normal service as soon as possible.
