WHO WE WORK WITH

We support the work of teachers of English in schools, universities and vocational training centres as part of our English for the Future Project.  We do this through cooperation with a range of partners in Lebanon, including:

• Centre of Education Research and Development (CERD) at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education We deliver training for English language teachers from public schools, including the Cambridge Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT) preparation course and exam
• Association of Teachers of English in Lebanon (ATEL) We provide speakers for ATEL’s annual conference and regional workshops
• UNRWA We have previously delivered English language teaching, teacher training and in-school support as part of an EU-sponsored project
• HSBC and ESU These organisations sponsor English language teacher training  programmes in Lebanon

Professional development and networking

We provide free monthly workshops at our Teaching Centre in Beirut for teachers of English throughout the academic year.  Numbers are limited, so we ask all attendees to register in advance.

Face-to-face teacher training courses

We work with teacher training institutions to design and deliver tailored training programmes for teachers of English.  

Some of our most popular courses include:

• Cambridge Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT)
  This training programme enables teachers to find out about the main areas of teaching knowledge needed in the English language teaching classroom in preparation for the TKT exam. TKT tests knowledge about the teaching of English to speakers of other languages.  Three courses are available, one for each module of the exam:
  Module 1        30 hours                           
  Language and background to language learning and teaching
  Module 2         20 hours                                 
  Lesson planning and use of resources for language teaching
  Module 3         15 hours                            
  Managing the teaching and learning process
  A minimum language level of B1 is needed to join the course.
  
  
• English for Teaching
  An English language course designed specifically for teachers, this course serves to upgrade both the English language and teaching skills of participants.  ‘Microteaching’ is an important part of the course, where teachers can try out student-centred teaching techniques with their peers.
  
  
• Primary English Language Teaching Programme
  A 30 hour methodology and resource development course for primary English language teaching, focussing on key practical primary classroom themes and topics. Participants are expected to complete three assignments and keep a portfolio of their work.
