There are over 2,500 independent schools across the UK. The wide choice of includes day & boarding schools, single sex and coeducational schools; schools for boys and girls of every age and ability, from 2-19 years, special needs schools.

Who studies at an independent school

Children who attend independent schools come from every sort of background including international students. Here is some of the reasons why parents choose independent schooling for their children:

Quality assurance

The main accreditation body for independent schools is the ISC - Independent Schools Council, which runs the ISCIS - Independent Schools Council Information Services. The ISC also runs the ISI - Independent Schools Inspectorate which ensures high standards.
