Skills around the World: United Kingdom

Demand for further education outside a student’s home country has steadily increased in the past decade. In the UK there are a number of organisations which facilitate links and partnerships between the UK and other countries. They may provide help and information, run programmes enabling students to study in another country or facilitate links between educational institutions.

Scotland’s Colleges International:
Scotland’s Colleges International works with colleges in Scotland to provide links with international partners and work in international markets. Over 30 of Scotland’s colleges have come together in this organisation with the aim of contributing to the internationalisation of colleges and the college sector in Scotland.
Universities Scotland:
Universities Scotland represents and promotes Scotland’s higher education sector both in the UK and internationally.
British Council:
The British Council provides opportunities for international students to study in the UK and for UK students to study overseas. It runs a variety of programmes, exchanges and partnerships, and gives advice on study options and opportunities, courses, qualifications and visas.
Education UK:
The British Council has set up this site to provide information for international students interested in studying for a UK course or qualification.
Education UK Scotland:
The British Council has set up this site to help international students interested in studying for a Scottish course or qualification.
UK Council for International Student Affairs:
The UK Council for International Student Affairs is the UK’s national advisory body for international students and those who work with them. It promotes and facilitates international student mobility to and from the UK with the aim of increasing support for international education.
The International Education Site:
This site provides information about studying in different countries and gives a guide to courses.
