Over 70 international policymakers, leading practitioners and influential champions of vocational and technical education from Central and South Asia, the Middle East, Near East and North Africa, China and Hong Kong, South East Europe and Vietnam gathered in London in March 2010 for a two-day seminar on Enterprise and Employer Engagement, organised by the British Council as part of its Skills for Employability programme.
The seminar shared information, best practice and case studies and was supported by UK agencies and organisations that lead in employer engagement and enterprise in the UK. The focus of the event was to identify practical recommendations to advance the delivery of better enterprise education and employer engagement strategies to support national TVET developments in participating Skills for Employability regions.
'Exposure to best practices will give wide awareness about solutions to be done. At the same time, it helped me to direct my attention to the UK’s best practices and how I can find it to study it and see where we can go from there. The British Council plays an important role in exposing the British education system for us to learn how the UK overcame their challenges and make their system available for others to learn from. I thank you for being the pioneer among great countries to show that you are a leader,' said Ahmed M Dabroom, Saudi Arabia
The two-day seminar was organised in partnership with Learning Skills Network and Enterprise UK who led on developing a programme that provided both an overview of UK policy and examples of implementation in the UK.
Following the seminar, delegates went on to attend the British Council’s international education conference Going Global 4 which attracted over 1,200 delegates from around the world.
Below is the programme of events of the 2010 conference with links to some of the presentations that were given over two of the days.
